cotone

The history and quality of the Persol brand (Luxottica Group, Italy) are enhanced in the latest Suprema Design collections, marked by the re-discovery of thickened acetate, typical of Persol production in the ’30s.
The play on the thicknesses between front and temples, obtained by the frame volumes, are evident in model PO2911S in the Design Collection. The maxi 10mm arrow, which also acts as the hinge, becomes an important element for continuity between front and temples. The latter feature the two metal cylinders, typical of the Meflecto patent. The color range is varied: tortoiseshell, maroon, spotted havana, black and smoke. Among the crystal lenses available, the new Blu Persol are outstanding. This model also features heat-stamping inside the temple tip.

The Ferrari Daytona

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

Forty years ago Maranello introduced Ferrari 365 GTB4, the mythical “Daytona”. This sedan debuted in paris in 1968, and was so successful it was called “Daytona” as a reminder of the triumphal result Ferrari had obtained in the 24 Hours of Daytona the previous year.
To celebrate this anniversary, Marcolin Group, official licensee of Eyewear Ferrari, now presents its limited edition (40 pieces only) of glasses.
The selected model is one of the most representative of the collection, particularly close to the style of the Ferrari Daytona. The characteristic rounded shape of the frame was maintained, as well as the sophisticated leather details on the ear pieces and to the sides of the lenses, but for this special occasion the model was dressed up in 18-carat gold. A combination with a retro taste, which takes us back to the years in which this legendary car was born.
The 40 pieces dedicated to “the most desired sports car in the world”, as the press referred to it at the time, come within a brown leather case inside an exclusive lacquered wood box displaying the 40th anniversary logo.
The model was first presented in an exclusive premiere in Mido and will be available for sale form October 2008.
Moreover, for the 2008 season Team Ferrari has decided to wear model FR30, with aluminum frame and carbon ear pieces, whose extremities are injected for a rubber effect. The details which characterize this model, such as the small piece on the nose bridge which reminds us of the air inlet of the cars, are a constant reference to the world of car races.

White-red-blue. Pink-black-yellow. These are the dominant color shades in the “NAVY” model, the star of the D&G Spring/Summer 2009 collection (Luxottica Group, Italy).
Inspired by the resorts on the French riviera, these sunglasses are the interpretation in D&G style of the original “French Riviera” look. It recalls elegant beaches, boats anchored in the harbor, regattas, aperitifs at the sunset and evenings at the casino. It is inspired by the little marker flags used on boats and is therefore made to catch all eyes.

Oxydo Strong Identity 2-2

Monday, October 5th, 2009

A modern and decided “street appeal”: the tear-drop sunglasses mask, with a wide and covering design, conquers with a high-impact personality (mod. X-POP). The front is framed by a thin contrast profile with a striking coloration. The super-enveloping sunglasses in injected mold presents a rectangular shape and an energetic mood (mod Octopus 1). The resolute design is highlighted by a long metal insert, where the logo “Oxydo”-standing out from strong hues- is engraved. “Easy to wear” look for the metal prescription frames with a rectangular shape (mod. X366) and for the acetate silhouettes with a soft design (mod X337). Both of them show bilayer acetate temples, which are marked by the “X” logo as a bas-relief in contrast. Minimal line for the prescription frames in thin layer of metal: basic tints highlight the “X” logo, interpreted as original passage of light on the temples (mod X340). Other prescription frames in metal have a glam-retró design, which is made more modern by strong details, like the acetate element that underlines the nose and the unmistakable “X” logo on the temples (mod X342). For a startling look: the new metal frames with an oval shape showing floral details on the temples, which stand off on amazing color combinations (mod X344). White-black, violet-black, violet-white, white-green, red-white, peach-silver, dark blue-silver…to always be the centre of attention! The Oxido sunglasses and prescription frames line is produced and distributed by Safilo Group.
