Drivewear Activated by Transitions 2/2

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

“Activated by Transitions” means that these lenses have been carried out by applying photochromism –which is the change in colour according to the quantity of light present– in a new way:
in poor light conditions (for example, when the sky is cloudy), the lenses show a green-yellow hue, which favours contrast definition, highly reduces reflection and empowers the “useful light information” reaching the eyes.
In presence of high sunlight, which goes even through the windscreen, the lenses turn into a copper tone. This colour, which for many drivers is the most comfortable while driving, reduces reflection and brightness, improves the outline definition and the distinctness of red and green road signs.
Finally, when the driver gets out of the vehicle and looks directly at the sun, the lenses darken further until they become dark brown and filtrate the extra-light as to guarantee comfort and visual wellness.
It must be noticed that brown helps to recognize the colours –in particular, green, which is the most recurring colour within the natural environment. These technological innovations must be added to the “consolidated” advantages of Transitions photochromatic lenses, which even in the traditional version block 100% of UVA and UVB rays, protect from reflection and reduce eyestrain.

Drivewear Activated by Transition 1/2

Saturday, September 26th, 2009

Being able to drive in maximum safety conditions is the first need of everyone who daily face the city traffic on their cars. Advanced technology vehicles, safety belts and stricter rules for drivers have represented great improvements, but the real protagonist remains the driver, who must rely not only on his ability, but also on the supports that make driving easier.
In order to offer new safety standards to millions of drivers who wear prescription glasses (in Italy, 48% of the population) "Drivewear activated by Transitions" are now available, the first photochromatic-polarized lenses which adapt to light conditions and darken even behind the windscreen, solving the problems of dazzling light and low visibility.
Properly thought for drivers, compatible with every sight defect and adaptable to every frame, this type of lenses combines photochromism -the automatic darkening according to the quantity of light present - to polarization, which protects from blinding reflection. Studied to empower the human eye’s natural ability to adapt to different light conditions, these lenses derive from a cooperative project between Transitions Optical, world leader in photochromatic lenses, and Younger Optics, leader in corrective polarized lenses.

Your eyes'wellness with transitions lensesThe “ocular gymnastics” is a daily training comprising useful exercises which can be performed at any moment of the day and anywhere. Like any other muscle, in fact, even the external eye muscles need to be trained in order to maintain tonicity and a few minutes of ocular gymnastics a day may be sufficient to help the eyes to reach a perfect fit.
“Yoga for the eyes”, instead, aims to alleviate the eye muscular tension, allowing them to keep fit. The “training” program ends with “Spa for the eyes”, which not only offers helpful advice on how to make and put on treatment masks specific for the ocular area, but also explains some massage techniques ideal for eye-strain and eye muscle relaxation, thus stimulating blood circulation. Finally, to take care of one’s own eyes means also to wear “correct” lenses; this is the reason why Transitions Optical created Transitions variable tint lenses as integral part of the daily routine: these lenses are clear indoors and at night, but automatically darken according to the UV light intensity if worn outdoors. This way, both the reflection and the eye-strain are reduced, and the armful UVA e UVB rays are blocked.

Transitions lensesLike any other part of the body, the eyes, too, need care and attention, especially if we take into account how tiring modern lifestyle can be for the sight. An example for all: the hours spent in front of the computer-screen highly decrease the number of times a person blinks -12 per minute averagely -, “operation” which guarantees hydration, nurture and cleanliness from irritating subjects.
As a result, dry eyes need to be prevented from troubles which can possibly arise. This is the reason why the Transitions company has based its training program on exercises aimed to relax the ocular muscles and useful advice on how to alleviate tension and visual tiredness. Not only the “Eyecare program” offers the eyes a necessary break which helps them to alleviate the ocular tiredness at work, but it also provides useful advice to improve the visual quality according to the location where the job is performed.

Visual Performance in Sports Activities 14-14

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

Conclusions
A good visual performance is necessary to perform a good motor action. An aspect that can affect many crucial visual abilities during sports activities is the possibility of enjoying a proper optical correction. Uncorrected sight defects get some abilities worse, such as the static and dynamic visual acuity, contrast sensitiviness, but also the possibility of an efficient binocularity. On the other hand, however, the optical correction by glasses may have some negative effects on visual abilities: limitations on visual field, prismatic effects due to fixation outside the optical axis, etc.
The best solution to reach a good visual performance, without experiencing negative consequences, seems to wear contact lenses, which in fact represent the most favoured choice among sportspeople and, as a consequence, the most common solution in sports activities.

We must always keep in mind that the visual demand changes not only among athletes, but also according to the sport performed: each sport has its own setting of specific rules, tools and environmental conditions. This is the reason why an expert who deals with vision-care in sports must always carry out an analysis of the athlete’s own visual demands, in order to plan that integrated event - made up of correction, training and coaching - which enables him to reach the best possible performance.
